Jacob tried to “use his words” mid-fight. “Melissa, I just want you to know I respect your—”

In the other corner? Jacob Hill, wearing a bike helmet, a whistle around his neck, and the terrified confidence of a man who had never thrown a punch in his life.

In the far corner of the teacher’s parking lot, under the sole working floodlight, stood Melissa Schemmenti. She had swapped her cardigan for a black track jacket and was methodically wrapping her knuckles in electrical tape.

Ava Coleman circled the scene with a cardboard box labeled and a venmo QR code taped to her chest. “Ten more viewers and I’m buying the faculty a new Keurig,” she announced. “Currently we’re at ‘slightly used Mr. Coffee.’”

With ten seconds left, Jacob landed a single, accidental, pathetic slap to Melissa’s elbow. She froze. Then she smiled.
