Cat Costa Cazierul -

Marin felt a cold stone drop into his stomach. He looked at the spot where Elena used to sit. The floor was scuffed from the legs of her chair. A single, forgotten price tag lay there: 1 leu – Oferta Speciala.

Marin was a man of simple, rigid habits. Every morning at exactly 7:45 AM, he entered "La Bujor," the small neighborhood grocery store. He would pick up a loaf of pâine neagră , a hundred grams of cașcaval , and a single tomato. He would then place the items on the worn metal scale, squint at the price, and approach the counter.

For the first time in nineteen years, she did not say not for sale . She looked at the money, then at him. A single tear broke free and traced a line through the dusting of flour on her cheek.

She smiled, a small, broken smile. "That was the price. And you paid it every single day."
