This is not your typical raunchy or slapstick comedy. The Big Sick is based on the real-life love story of Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon. Kumail plays a version of himself—a Pakistani-American stand-up comedian who falls for Emily (Zoe Kazan), only for her to fall into a medically induced coma.
