If water rises to the brim on its own or multiple drains in the house are backing up, the clog may be in your main sewer line. Stop DIY attempts and call a plumber.
1️⃣ – Use a flange plunger, not a sink plunger. Seal, push gently, then pull up fast. 2️⃣ Soap + hot water – Squirt dish soap, add hot (not boiling) water. Wait 10 mins. Magic? Sometimes. 3️⃣ Auger time – No luck? A toilet auger reaches deeper than a plunger.
Add 1/4 cup of dish soap to the bowl, then carefully pour a bucket of hot (not boiling) water from waist height. The soap lubricates, and the water’s weight can push the clog through. Wait 10–15 minutes.
If plunging fails, an auger is the next step. Insert the end into the toilet drain, crank the handle, and work past the clog. It’s gentler on porcelain than a standard drain snake.
🚫 What NOT to do: – Don’t flush again – Don’t use chemical drain cleaners (bad for pipes & toilet seals)
