“I danced for forty years,” Dr. Vane said. “Do you know what I learned? Talent is just early luck. Balance is just falling and remembering the floor is there. And grace—” she tapped her cane against Laufey’s sneaker, “—grace is not about never stumbling. Grace is about what you do after.”
