Here is the short answer, followed by everything else you need to know. Facebook does not send a notification when you unblock someone.
So go ahead. Release that digital padlock. Just remember: unblocking isn’t the same as re-friending. And if you’re not ready to talk, simply unblocking doesn’t mean you have to reach out.
But time passes. Water under the bridge. You’re ready to let them back into your digital life—or at least stop hiding your posts from them.
When you block someone, you unfriend them automatically. When you unblock them, you are simply restoring the ability for you to interact. You will go back to being “strangers” on Facebook—no friend connection exists.
Sometimes, silence is the kindest unblock of all. Have you ever unblocked someone and wondered if they knew? Or received a friend request from someone you thought had disappeared? Share your stories in the comments—without names, of course!
Now you’re hesitating with your finger over the “Unblock” button, wondering:
The only way they will know is if they actively search for you, stumble across your profile, or try to interact with you. For the vast majority of casual unblocks, the other person will never realize it happened.
